Higgins & Associates was founded on a simple idea — that legal services should feel clearer, faster and more human, without ever cutting corners on the work itself.
Many people come to a solicitor at one of the most stressful moments of their year — buying a home, separating from a partner, dealing with a death in the family, defending a claim, or selling the business they have spent decades building. Too often, the experience compounds the stress: jargon-heavy letters, slow updates, and the feeling that a file is being handled by whoever happens to be free that week.
We built Higgins & Associates as a deliberate alternative. A small, expert team. One point of contact. Modern tools that make progress visible. And the kind of clarity in writing that means clients know where they stand — without having to read a letter twice.
The practice is well established in the local community. Our Principal, Melanie Higgins, has been building a civil practice in Leixlip since 2013 — in conveyancing, probate, family law and litigation — and established the firm in its current form, as Higgins & Associates, in 2018. What began as a single solicitor has grown into a close-knit team, while keeping the personal, hands-on approach that brought clients here in the first place.

We are a full-service practice covering five areas of law that, in real life, frequently overlap: Conveyancing, Probate & Wills, Family Law, Personal Injury & Civil Litigation, and Business & Commercial Advice.
Working across those areas under one roof means a single matter rarely needs to be split between firms or passed between specialists. The same small team carries it from instruction to completion. For our clients, that translates into faster progress, fewer surprises, and a more coherent bill at the end.
Higgins & Associates is currently a small, close-knit team — a Principal, an Associate Solicitor and two experienced Legal Executives, supported by a dedicated secretarial and legal-assistant team. Clients regularly tell us how easy our team is to talk to during the harder parts of a matter: when a first-home purchase falls through, when a marriage ends, or when a family business faces a sudden bereavement.
That approachability isn't a substitute for technical excellence — it sits alongside it. The combination of genuine expertise and a warm, human manner is, more than anything, what brings clients back and prompts them to refer others.
We use modern legal technology where it genuinely improves a client's experience — secure document portals, e-signing, video consultations, and online progress tracking. Clients who prefer to handle everything online can do so. Clients who would rather meet at the office, post documents back, and pick up the phone are welcome to do exactly that.

A growing share of our work is for owner-managed businesses, family companies, and SMEs across Kildare and the wider Dublin commuter belt. Many of them used to instruct large Dublin firms by default. They moved to us because they wanted the sharper attention of dealing directly with a senior solicitor, and a more sensible, transparent relationship between the work and the cost.
